Sawing and piercing are more than just a way to cut metal. Skilled use of the saw opens up endless  opportunities for creativity and refinement in jewelry making to get the most out of your metal.

This class provides expert instruction in sawing and piercing techniques under the direction of a master goldsmith. Michael’s expert insight and guidance enables you to quickly develop your ability with skill and confidence.

Undertake a series of practical exercises; sawing lines, shapes, cutouts, patterns, decorative borders, frames, and repetitive elements. As you refine their skill and increase confidence move forward to more complex applications. Instruction Includes methods to transfer images from paper and proper use of tools to layout precise patterns and designs directly on metal. 

This intensive workshop is suitable for all levels; no prior metalsmithing experience is required.

All current classes are in-person at our Grand Haven, Michigan Studio. When purchasing online, please choose "Pick-up" as your shipping option.

Visiting Artist Policies: Refunds (-$35 administrative fee) will be given if cancellations are received up to 60 days prior to the workshop date. Due to prior artist travel arrangements and class material purchases, cancellations after that date can only be reimbursed if we can fill your seat.

Workshops and classes are for students 18 and up. Minors can register with prior approval and parental consent.

A metals kit is included in the class fee. Students will receive a recommended tool and supply list prior to class.
