Richard Salley: Beyond the Basic Bezel--Saturday, July 11 9am-5pm
If you feel you are proficient at setting stones with standard bezel wire (30-26 gauge), it’s time for you to step up to using heavier gauges (20-16 gauge) for your bezels. This will give your settings a more substantial appearance and superior protection for your stones. In this one-day class you will learn to make a “castle” bezel with 18 gauge sterling sheet. You will learn some tips, tools and techniques for fabricating a heavy-wall bezel and how to set the stone. Add a hefty band to your creation and leave with a finished ring at the end of the day.
Level: Intermediate – soldering and sawing proficient
Class fee includes all materials needed to complete one ring. A list of recommended tools will be emailed to students prior to class.
