Stunning one-of-a-kind pendant by Shoaleh Mansour features a bold, brightly colored rectangular cabochon of Jeepite, bezel set and surrounded by pretty Peridot beads. A large faceted Peridot bead sits atop the pendant and it is suspended from a 20 inch chain
What is Jeepite? Jeepite is part of the family of materials also known as Fordite, or Detroit agate. It is old automotive enamel–formed by the buildup of layers of paint on racks that held auto bodies for spray painting–that has hardened sufficiently to be cut and polished. This industrial waste product has been reclaimed and upcycled into “stones” for jewelry makers! The material in these pieces is specifically from a Jeep manufacturing plant.
