Fabrication 3 begins with a concentration in hand fabricated chains and clasps. Students will forge, saw, hammer, twist, texture and/or solder copper wire to create two or more chains. We will then work on bezel setting skills by creating a bezel cup for a large or free form cabochon stone. After an exploration of design principles and practice, the bezel cup can be used in the creation of a pendant, ring, bracelet or piece of your choice.
Students may want to bring a notebook for note taking and should bring a sketchbook of choice for design ideas. All tools and materials are provided. Studio attire includes sturdy, closed toe shoes and garments you don't mind getting dirty or an apron. Long hair should be tied back. We have safety glasses but you can bring your own. Bring reading glasses if you need them for close-up work.
