Join the Michigan Silversmiths Guild for an amazing workshop with guest artist Anne Havel as she presents In the Line of Fire, a two day exploration in torch-fired enameling.
"Using a torch, we will cover various methods of line creation to create the imagery and feeling one is trying to convey. successive layers of liquids & sgraffito, transparents, opaques, graphite, acid-etching, acrylic enamel lines, under/& over-firing, and more will be used to build and preserve drawings in the final piece. No matter the student's skill level, there will be the opportunity to immerse oneself in new ideas and principles. The focus of this workshop will be on enamel technique, however students may finish a simple pendant or pair of earrings as time allows. Cold-connection and minimal soldering skill options for your piece(s) can be explored"

About the Artist
Anne Havel is an enamellist, metalsmith, and lampworker (she makes glass beads).
“I benefit from personal sensory issues which cause radical direction shifts. My unconscious issues, apparently, are the undisputed project manager at all times. Through my enameling pursuits I explore ideas about current brain-dominating subject matter. Frequent mind disturbances include nuclear power, planet degradation, imaginary space objects and creatures, molecular & cellular structures, mathematical pursuits. As a general rule, my work is an attempt at resolving the battle for brain dominance between chaos and geometry, expressing inner turbulence through abstract drawings.”
